BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 16. The volume of oil transported through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline from January through August 2024 reached 19.39 million tons.
Data obtained by Trend from the Azerbaijan State Statistical Committee reveals that the volume of oil transportation amounted to 20.15 million tons in the same period last year.
The BTC pipeline was responsible for 75.1 percent of the 25.8 million tons of oil transported via Azerbaijan’s main pipelines during the reporting period.
The majority of the oil transported through BTC, 15.81 million tons, or 81.5 percent, originated from Azerbaijani fields, including the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli (ACG) complex.
The remaining 18.5 percent, equivalent to 3.58 million tons, was sourced from Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan.
Shareholders in the BTC Co. include major global energy firms: bp (30.1 percent), SOCAR (25.0 percent), MOL (8.9 percent), Equinor (8.7 percent), TPAO (6.5 percent), Eni (5.0 percent), TotalEnergies (5.0 percent), ITOCHU (3.4 percent), INPEX (2.5 percent), ExxonMobil (2.5 percent), and ONGC Videsh (2.4 percent).
