A resolution on drilling the second exploration well in Nakhchivan field in the Azerbaijani section of the Caspian will be taken by the end of 2005, Natik Aliyev, the President of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), told Trend on Tuesday.
According to Aliyev, at present the SOCAR continues talks with the U.S. ExxonMobil, an operator of the project, on Nakhchivan bloc.
"Drew Goodbread, the General Director of Exxon Azerbaijan, is currently in the United States to present the proposals on the resolution of the issue to senior management of the head office. The issue will be resolved. The point is that they were not interested in drilling the second exploration well. Upon study of the proposals relevant discussions will be held to adopt a final resolution,” he underscored.
