AIOC plans to sign an agreement with KCA DEUTAG within Phase-3 project

The Azerbaijan International Operating Company (AIOC) approved prolongation of the contract with KCA DEUTAG, the daughter enterprise of the Abbot Group plc (“Abbot”), for provision of offshore platform drilling and maintenance services on the Deep Water Guneshli (DWG) platform to be built in the BP-operated Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli field, the AIOC told Trend.

Earlier AIOC and Abbot Group signed a $10m contract on provision of offshore
platform drilling and maintenance services on the Deep Water Guneshli (DWG) platform.

AIOC plans to sign an agreement on prolongation of the contract with the Abbot Group plc till late December 2005.

KCA DEUTAG’s workscope on the DWG development is estimated at more than $50 million, extending over the 5 years of the contract. During the construction and commissioning stage KCA DEUTAG will provide technical support and assistance as well as undertaking pre-operational activity to ensure a seamless and trouble free start up of the rig. The DWG rig is currently under construction and due to leave the Mercon fabrication yard in Holland in early Q2 2006, with rig operations due to commence late 2007.
