From January to December 2005 the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) shipped 1,631 m tons of Ural oil from the Novorossiysk port against 2,559 m in 2004, SOCAR told Trend.

According to SOCAR, in December 2005 the Company shipped 86,500 tons Ural oil against 167,200 tons in November 2005 and 166,300 tons in December 2004.

Over 2004 SOCAR sold 2,559,100 tons oil from the Novorossiysk port, or 77,100 tons more as compared 2003. The tariff on transportation via the Baku-Novorossiysk port comprises $15.67 per ton oil.

Fall in the volume of SOCARs oil export via the northern route in 2005 as compared to 2004 is explained with the fact that last year the Azerbaijan International Operating Company (AIOC) actively used the Baku-Novorossiysk route in connection with the rise in crude production from the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli fields. The tariff on transportation via the Baku-Novorossiysk port comprises $15.67 per ton oil.

Ural average price was $56.91 per barrel in December, or $4.77 per barrel more than November.
