Dutch company wants to purchase Azeri vessel

The Dutch company Fugro appealed to the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) with a proposal on acquisition of a corps of a specialized vessel Jumshud Ibrahimov. The vessel was earlier involved in the implementation of researches and drilling, whereas it has been inactive since the beginning of 1990s.

AzeriFugro Joint Venture has been charged with a commitment on the reconstruction of the vessel. Talks on the issue were carried out within several years, but the impossibility for guaranteeing the investment put in the reconstruction work the final resolution was not taken. In 2003 JV was released from its commitments.

Jumshud Ibrahimov vessel was built in Finland in 1982 by Raim offshore company, which is currently enters a group of Tecnip. According to estimations for 1995, approximately $3m is required for upgrade of the vessel. To date the sum is equal to some $20m. Markab vessel of Fugro while implementing the geo-technical work in the Caspian.
