Oil and oil products will be major items of freight traffic through Kars-Ahalkalaki- Tbilisi-Baku railway

The annual volume of the freight transportation through the projected Kars-Ahalkalaki-Tbilisi-Baku railway will supposedly to be 3 million tons, the larger part of which will constitute the bulk oil cargo, the forwarding companies operating in the Turkish market told Trend.

В"Emerging of such route will enable Turkey to relieve the Bosporus strait. The Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline will also enable to lower the freight traffic through this environmentally sensitive channel, the companies specified.

The Feasibility Study for the Kars-Ahalkalaki-Tbilisi-Baku construction project has been prepared by the Turkish Yuksel domonik.

By the estimation of the forwarders the railway construction cost will approximately make $600 million. The railways length is 98 km, from which 68 km is on the Turkish territory, 30 km - on the Georgian one.
