BP completes construction of S Caucasus gas pipeline

Р'Р  Azerbaijan, the operator of the Shah-Daniz project and the construction of the South Caucasus gas pipeline, completed all construction work, BP told Trend .

At present the Company welded and buried the pipe, as well as fulfilled the work on restoration of the surrounding land. The Company is currently conducting a hydro-test of the pipeline, BP stressed.

The pipeline will allow gas export from the Shah-Daniz field to the markets of Georgia and Turkey. The fuel will also be sold to Azerbaijan. The contracts on sale and purchase have already been signed by all tree countries. The second phase of the project envisages export of Azerbaijani gas to Europe. The pipeline is expected to be commissioned in autumn 2006.
