State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic is preparing to perform exploratory drilling at promising fields Babek and Umid, SOCAR officials told Trend. Financing and drilling commencement is pending.
According to Azerbaijans fuel and energy sector development program for 20052015, exploratory operations at promising fields Babek and Umid must resume in 2008. These fields are located on depths offshore.
The program also suggests completion of exploration and commencement of development of Ahrafi and Karabakh fields. Both the fields shall get developed within 2008-2010.
