Georgian Energy Minister to Discuss in Baku Acquisition of Additional Gas Volumes from Shah Deniz

The Georgian Energy Minister, Nika Gilauri, is laving for Baku on 10 October. Aleko Khetaguri, the Georgian Deputy Energy Minister, informed Trend Special Correspondent in Tbilisi that during the visit they will discuss acquisition of addition gas volumes from Shah Deniz field.

Afterwards, Turkey stated that for the time being it cannot receive the Azerbaijani gas due to technical reasons, while Georgia stated on its will to acquire additional gas volumes from Azerbaijan. It is dealt with 300,000 cu m of gas by the end of the year.

Georgia is considering opportunities for gas import from Azerbaijan as an alternative to Russian gas. Georgia's annual demand in natural gas is 1.5 2 billion cu m.

Khetaguri also discussed an issue on energy delivery from Azerbaijan in the winter period.

Georgia has an agreement with Armenia and Iran on energy delivery. Georgia is going to register an agreement on activities of the regional energy system in parallel regime.
