Р’Р  Continues Drilling under ACG project

Oil&Gas Materials 28 October 2006 11:54 (UTC +04:00)

After the planned 10-day shut down, BP Azerbaijan will continue the well sidetrack drilling programme until we spud the A21 well in December. This well will be an ERD (extended reach drilling) water injection well, Trend reports.

The company completed the second platform-drilled well (which was a producer) at the end of July and is currently drilling the third well, which will reach total depth by mid-November. Moreover, drilling of two more wells will be drilled from the CA platform this year, which will be production wells.

Since April this year when the company completed tie-back of all four pre-drilled wells to the platform we have drilled two platform wells with the third well spudded early in October as a producer. The design depth of this well is 4055 metres and we are planning to complete it in mid-December. Then it is planed to commence drilling an injector as the fourth platform well this year.

The Phase 3 pre-drilling programme has continued successfully since the upgrade programme of the Dada Gorgud semi-submersible drilling rig was completed in August. Following the successful maintenance and upgrade programme the rig returned to the drilling, utilities and quarters (DUQ) platform location and re-commenced pre-drilling from the template. Since that time BP Azerbaijan has drilled and suspended one pre-drill well and the rig is currently drilling the third pre-drill well on DUQ location, which is designed as a producer.

The DWG pre-drilling programme currently consists of eight wells, seven of which are planned as top-set producers and one as a cuttings re-injection well (to be used for platform drilling activity only). In addition to the pre-drilled platform template wells, the DWG drilling campaign also includes six sub-sea water injection wells, which will also be drilled by the Dada Gorgud.
