The President of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), Rovnak Abdullayev, met with members of the Council for Development of Hydrocarbon Resources of Caspian Sea, Trend reports quoting a statement from SOCAR.
According to a member of the Council, Stuart Eyzenshtat, at present this organization is preparing the next report regarding the realization of the global project in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea in the future. This report will be presented to the public in January 2007. The representatives of the Council were interested in the prospects of the future co-operation of the foreign companies with SOCAR.
According to Abdullayev, a large program of reforms is presently being carried out within the framework of the order of the Azerbaijani President on transforming SOCAR into an international company. Abdullayev talked about the increase of the transparency in the Company, transition into international accounting standards, conduct of the international audit in the company and other topics.
The meeting also focused on the realization of the SOCAR Gas program.
