The Azerbaijan Operating Company (AIOC) obtained the first export oil produced from the East Azeri, Trend reports. The first oil reached the terminal in Sangachal and will be pumped there to export pipelines.
At present 70,000 barrels of oil a day is produced from East Azeri. Oil production here commenced from the second well on 5 November. Oil production from the east section of the Azeri field commenced on 22 October 2006. The East Azeri production began 4 months ahead of schedule. The extraction was carried out from 8 pre-drilling wells. In mid-2007 production is expected to increase following the commissioning of other pre-drilling wells, as soon as drilling from the platform commences. A maximum total of 260,000 barrels of oil a day will be extracted from the East Azeri offshore field during a normal stable period.
