Azerbaijan Increases Oil and Gas Production

Over January-October, 2006, Azerbaijan produced 26 mln. 009,2 thousand tons of crude oil that is on 47 percent more versus the corresponding period of the last year, the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan told Trend.

The volume of gas production in the country in January-October, 2006, reached 5 bln. . 539 mln. cubic meters, that is on 20,2 percent more against the corresponding period of the last year. According to the State Statistics Committee, the increase in the oil and gas production volumes has occurred mainly due to AIOC (Azerbaijan International Operating Company). Over the past ten months of the current year, AIOC has produced 18,5 mln. tons of oil and 1 bln. 978,1mln. cubic meters of gas. The both volumes in aggregate exceed the last year's ones by 80,9%.

In the past ten months of the year, Azerbaijan has generated 19 bln. 387,9 mln. KWatt/hour of electric power. The volume exceeds the last year's one by 6,6%, with 11,2% of them falling at the hydro electric power stations, and 88,8% - on the heat power plants.

In January-October, 2006, Azerbaijan generated heat energy at the volume of 4 mln. 251,7 GigaCalories, that is on 24,3 percent more versus the corresponding period of the last year.
