Work on Construction of CCP in Sumgait Continues on Schedule

Large-scale work has been carried out within the construction of the combined-cycle plant (CCP) in Sumgait Electric Power Station. In the near future, the assembly of the two gas and one cycle turbines will commence, Trend reports with reference to the statement of Azerenerji Joint-Stock Company.

Currently the construction of the chemical and two big reservoirs for the water have been completed and the assembly of the cooling system is continuing. This work has been divided into two parts construction of the water intake and pumping station, as well as construction of the pipe from the marine coast to the CCP. This work is implemented by the Turkish Company Suboru with the participation of local Company AZENCO.

In addition, work is continuing for the construction of two new 110 and 220-kVt substations. The cost of the project for construction of CCP is estimated at в'¬257 mln. The agreement on financing this project has been finalised with Bayern LB bank (Germany), Societe de General (France) and BNP Paribas (France). All three banks will allocate equal shares for 15 years (three years of grace) with the credit rate - Libor +0,55%. In addition, it is planned to build 107 km power line within the project. Furthermore, a gas pipe will be constructed to deliver gas to the electric power station, and its cost is estimated at в'¬30 mln.

Azerenerji has signed a contract with the German Siemens for the construction of combined-cycle electric power station in Sumgait. The contract envisages the construction of the turnkey combined-cycle plant with a capacity of 506 mVt in the territory of Sumgait electric power station.
