Kazakhstan is carrying its oil via the main pipeline - Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CTC) and Atyrau-Samara. Both of the pipelines are passing through the territory of Russia and reach the Black Sea. Significant oil volumes are needed to start Odessa-Brody-Plotsk, Bakhtikoja Izmukhambetov, Kazakhstan Energy Minister, told Trend Correspondent to Astana,
Today, we are negotiating with Russian federation and with investors on extending CTC, and we are eager to complete them. If we come to an agreement, we shall obtain a possibility to extend the volume of oil carried out by the pipeline by 67 mln. tons per year instead of the present 25 mln. tons. At the same time, the share of Kazakhstan will be 50 mln. tons, said the Minister.
An excess of oil volumes will appear in the Black Sea region. Taking into consideration the fact that the Bosporus is overloaded today, Kazakhstan intends to carry its oil via the Burgas-Aleksnadripulos route. I think that there will be a necessity in carrying the oil via alternative routes as well, said Mr. Izmukhambetov.
