In 2007, the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) does not plan to export the Virgin benzene (naphtha) produced in Azerneftyag Oil Refinery, Trend reports with reference to the SOCAR.

In January-November 2006, Azerneftyag produced 298,200 tons of virgin benzene, a decrease of 8,9% from the same period of 2005. In 2006, the SOCAR exported 299,600 tons of naphtha.

According to the representative of the SOCAR, part of the virgin benzene of Azerneftyag is delivered to additional refinery in Heydar Aliyev Oil Refinery, and other part is purchased by Azerkimiya State Company, which uses it for producing chemical products.

We can not export naphtha because it is needed in the internal market of Azerbaijan, said the same source.
