Presently Iran is continuing the transfer of nearly 10-12 MW of electric power to Azerbaijan per day. The Vice President of Azerenergy Joint-Stock Company, Marlen Askerov, informed Trend.

The electricity arrears to Iran will be covered in summer, when this country has a shortfall in it.

In turn Azerbaijan provides electricity supply to Parsabad, Iran. In this way Azerbaijan repays the debts to Iran for the electric power provided to Nakchivan Autonomous Republic.

The electric power is delivered via electric lines Astara (Iran)-Astara (Azerbaijan)-Parsabad (Iran)-Imishli (Azerbaijan).

Azerbaijan and Iran signed a contract on the energy system set up between the two countries in a parallel regime from December 1st 2006.

This contract envisages Azerbaijan to receive 600-700 kVt electric power a month during winter, and return the same volume during the summer.

Every month Azereneji receives 50-70mln KW/h electricity from Iran. In 2005 the general volume of electricity supplied made up 656 KW /h.
