Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend / The head of H. Z. Taghiyev Oil and Gas Producing Unit (OGPU) of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR), Farhad Askarov, reported that in the first quarter of 2007 the OGPU produced 17,346 tons of oil, which exceeded the expected norm by 3.3%. The production of oil in the same period of 2006 made up 19,893 tons.
The production of gas by the OGPU during the first quarter of 2007 comprised 210,000 cu m, which exceeded the expected norm by 3.3%. The OGPU produced 220,000 cu m of gas in the same period of 2006.
In the first quarter of 2007, 188 technical and 40 geological arrangements, 454 underground and 48 fundamental repairs were carried out in order to reserve the volume of oil in the field.
The OGPU owns 355 wells, with 3 of them producing gas. Some 172 wells are in operation and 182 are out of operation. One of the wells is in exploration.
