Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend S.Aliyev / Azerenerji, an energy company of Azerbaijan are discussing with Turkey and Georgia the opportunity to construct electricity transmission lines (ETL) for the establishment of a unified power system Azerbaijan-Georgia. The major part of work will fall namely in the territories of Georgia and Turkey.

Some 40% of the ETLs, which will be covered under the project, will be repaired for the construction of a 500kW-ETL, which is to connect Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey. Georgia needs to repair approximately 90% of its electricity transmission lines. This data was obtained during monitoring of the transmission lines.

There was an absence of the components needed for ETLs in Turkey.

The construction of the ETLs will allow the synchronisation of electricity systems of the three countries, as well as enter the European electricity system. The document on the construction of electricity transmission lines was signed during a meeting of the Presidents of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey in Tbilisi on 7 February.

A feasibility study of the project will be established to determine the cost of the project.
