Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend S.Aliyev / Marlen Askarov, the Vice-President of the Azerenerji Joint-Stock Company, stated on 13 June that Azerenerji intends to re-announce a tender on construction of the second combined-cycle plant at the Shimal power station at the end of June.
At present, Azerenerji is in talks with the Japanese TEPSCO and the Finish Enprima Alliance Company, the project's consultants.
The previous tender was annulled due to inconsistencies between the tender proposals. Assistance to the consultants is provided by Azerbaijani Globus Company.
Japan Mitsui Company, which carried out the construction of the first combined-cycle plant at the Shimal power station, and Chinese CNEEC also took part in the tender. The third company, Korean Bumjin Corporation, did not submit all the necessary documents in due time. The construction work is to begin in the third quarter of 2007. Azerenerji announced a tender for the design, provision, construction and assembly, testing, launching and putting into operation the second combined cycle plant at the Shimal, with a nominal capacity of 400 MW, four 220 KW power lines and a substation capable of 220/110 KW. The project had to be implemented within 27 months.
Japan JBIC is to allot a credit of 29.28bln yens for the construction of the second combined-cycle plant with a capacity of 400MW. The funds are allocated for 40 years at a 0.75% annual interest rate, with ten years grace period. The hydro-electric power station has one combined-cycle plant with the capacity of 400MW built by Japan Mitsui/Mitsubishi Alliance.
