Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr S. Aliyev / Supply of Azerbaijani gas to Georgia will be extended to the end of the year, the Azerbaijani Industry and Energy Minister, Natig Alioyev, said on 20 August.
"We have experience in gas supply to Georgia, especially in emergency situations." The contract on gas supplies may be reviewed in the near future and extended.
Azerbaijan currently supplies some 1.3 - 1.5mln cu m of gas every 24 hours to Georgia. In total Azerbaijan supplies some 2.5mln cu m of gas every 24 hours. Azerbaijan supplies 1.3-1.5mln cu m of its gas via old pipelines and 1mln cu m via the South-Caucasus gas pipeline from the Shah Daniz field.
Gas from Shah Daniz is supplied at a price of $63 per 1,000 cu m operated by BP. The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) has an agreement to supply 40-41mln cu m of gas a month at a price of $120 per 1,000 cu m.
