By Rashid Shirinov – Trend:

The turnover in trading in securities of Kazakhstan's National Atomic Company KazAtomProm on Astana International Exchange (AIX) amounted to more than $15.9 million since the AIX launch in November 2018, Trend reports via Kazakh media.

AIX CEO Timothy Bennett said at a press conference that, in particular, the trading in ordinary shares made up 5.4 billion tenge (1,101,537 ordinary shares), and the trading in global depository receipts amounted to $1.7 million (130,142 GDRs).

The average monthly trading of shares and GDRs of KazAtomProm on AIX was almost $4 million.

Bennett also spoke about the upcoming IPOs of other major national companies of Kazakhstan.

"A month ago, the Finance Ministry determined the following plans: IPO of Kazakhtelecom will be in May this year, of Air Astana – in October or November, and of KazMunaiGas – in the second quarter of 2020," he said.

AIX CEO explained that the time for an IPO is determined if there is interest in investments in the market.

"Capital markets have been very volatile over the past six months, so we are working to ensure that these IPOs take place this year," Bennett added.
