Average monthly nominal wage in Kazakhstan stands at $442

The average monthly salary per employee in Kazakhstan was 168,500 tenge ($442.45) in the first quarter of 2019, with an annual growth of 10.5 percent, Trend reports with reference to ranking.kz.

Moreover, real growth in the purchasing power of the wages of the Kazakhs, taking into account the inflation, reached 5.2 percent - a record figure in recent years.

In the same period of 2018, the average monthly salary per employee increased by 8.7 percent to 152,400 tenge year-on-year and the real growth in purchasing power was 2 percent.

In the regional context, the highest average monthly salary in the first quarter was recorded in the Atyrau region: 322,700 tenge (immediately by 15.2 percent more than a year earlier), which is 154,700 tenge higher than the national average (168,500 tenge).

The Mangystau region is in the second place with 287,900​ tenge (+2.1 percent per year). It is noteworthy that a year earlier the region was leading in terms of wages.

Nur-Sultan closes the top three: 233,500 tenge, with an annual growth of 4.4 percent.

The lowest level of average monthly wages is observed in the Turkestan region: 109,000 tenge which is 1.5 times lower than the national average.

The highest wages are in the financial and insurance sector: 323,000 tenge, the annual increase was 8.1 percent.

The sphere of professional, scientific and technical activities is in the second place: 296,300 tenge, +16.2 percent year-on-year.

Employees in the field of information and communications receive an average of 253,000 tenge, + 16.1 percent year-on-year and this sphere closes the top three most highly paid.

Although the salary of workers in agriculture, forestry and fisheries showed the highest growth (16.4 percent), it reached only 93.200 tenge.

The industries with the lowest salary are also include healthcare and social services (115,800 tenge) and education (109,900 tenge), although the growth rates for the year are significant: 13.8 percent and 15.1 percent, respectively.
