The completion of the creation of infrastructure of the new HUMO payment system in Uzbekistan is scheduled before the end of the year, the Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan Botir Zakhidov told Trend in an interview.
Zakhidov said that the creation of HUMO payment system will provide the following practical results:
-The formation of a modern infrastructure of the national payment system of bank cards;
-Development of infrastructure for the use of contactless technology and mobile payments;
-Constructing the infrastructure on the basis of the standards of international payment systems and the principle of an open application programming interface, which will increase competition in the market for suppliers of bank plastic cards, terminals and other devices;
-Creation of internal competition in the market of card services;
- Simplification of the integration of commercial banks with international payment systems through the National Interbank Processing Center.
“The entire payment infrastructure of the HUMO system supports contactless payments,” Zakhidov said.
Currently, there is an active work on integration with international payment systems Mastercard, Visa and UnionPay. This will allow accepting cards of international payment systems on the HUMO terminal network. In addition, one of the goals of the HUMO payment system is to offer different card products (loyalty programs, bonuses, overdraft loans, etc.) to increase competition between banks.
In turn, this will improve the quality and range of payment services provided to individuals and legal entities.
Zahidov also noted that the creation of the infrastructure of the HUMO payment system throughout the country is being carried out according to the approved schedule.
“Over 47,000 HUMO terminals with NFC modules have already been installed in Tashkent. After the formation of infrastructure in the city of Tashkent and the Tashkent region, work on the creation of a payment system will be carried out in the next group of regions. At the same time, the regions are grouped by geographic principle in just 5 groups”.
The completion of the infrastructure of the HUMO payment system is scheduled for the end of the year.
