Georgia sees decrease in remittances

The remittances to Georgia amounted to $146.4 million in August 2019, which is $8.1 million (5.2 percent) less than in July, Trend reports citing the National Bank of Georgia.

The amount of money transferred to the country in July this year amounted to $154.5 million.

In August of this year, $35.4 million was transferred from Russia to Georgia.

The volume of remittances from Italy to Georgia amounted to $20.5 million, from Greece - $14.7 million, from Israel - $14 million, from Turkey - $7.9 million, from Spain - $4.2 million, from Germany – $4.2 million, from Ukraine - $3.8 million, from Poland - $3.1 million.

The volume of remittances from Georgia also decreased slightly. In particular, according to the National Bank, in August 2019, $19.03 million was transferred from the country, which is 1 percent less than last month.

In August 2019, $6.5 million was transferred from Georgia to Russia, $2.3 million - to Turkey, $1.9 million - to Ukraine, $1.2 million - to Azerbaijan, $869,000 - to Greece, $584,000 to Kazakhstan, $349,000 - to Israel, $327,000 - to Germany, $274,000 - to France.
