Azerbaijan’s Kapital Bank has signed a memorandum of cooperation with IBM iX consulting company, Trend reports from the event on Sept. 19.

The bank, which has set the strategic goal of switching to digital banking until 2021, plans to transform banking operations and a number of other processes conducted by the bank.

As part of partnership with IBM iX, the first international IT forum will be held in October in Baku, said Nahid Zeynalov, deputy chairman and information technology director at the Kapital Bank.

He added that the bank will complete and present a joint project in November this year, namely a front office omnichannel system, which will give Kapital Bank greater flexibility, and will expand and simplify access to various banking services for customers.

IBM has already audited an automated banking system created by a team of Kapital Bank specialists in order to ensure greater stability of the system. The company will also train the bank specialists.

Zeynalov noted that the partners plan to carry out a number of joint projects as part of long-term cooperation. But most importantly, the bank plans to adopt a new business culture.

Yevgeny Sokolov, partner and leader of the IBM iX practice in Central and Eastern Europe, said that it is very important for banks to have a systematic view of the issue of digital banking and see their task not to run after others, but to become leaders in this field.
