Ziraat Bank Azerbaijan: half of all obligations account for deposits

Following the results of the third quarter of this year, the subsidiary of Turkey's Ziraat Bank in Azerbaijan increased its total liabilities compared to the third quarter of last year by 6.2 percent, Trend reports referring to the bank.

According to the bank's report, total liabilities increased by 9.103 million manat ($5.364 million) up to 156.942 million manat ($92.504 million). Foreign currency accounted for 70 percent in the amount of 108.884 million manat ($64.160 million).

The largest share (50.5 percent) in the structure of liabilities is held by deposits, which decreased by 9.3 percent. The volume of deposits amounted to 79.332 million manat ($46.757 million), of which 63.497 million manat ($37.425 million) or 80 percent are presented in foreign currency. In the structure of bank deposits, private deposits of individuals, most of which are also represented in foreign currency, amounted to 55.028 million manat ($32.434 million) or 69.4 percent of the share.

Deposits of financial institutions, including banks, amounted to 66.061 million manat ($38.938 million), having decreased by 32.2 percent over the year. Most of them, up to 59 percent, are also in foreign currency.

Loro accounts, almost completely in foreign currency, amounted to 5.602 million manat ($3.301 million), which is 26 percent less than in the first nine months of 2018.

As noted in the report, the bank’s equity in the reported period increased by 4.3 percent, and amounted to 67.867 million manat ($39.999 million). Share capital in the form of the volume of ordinary shares put into circulation on an annualized basis did not change and amounted to 50 million manat ($29.469 million). Retained earnings amounted to 17.867 million manat ($10.529 million), which indicates an increase of 18.4 percent. Capital reserves amounted to 14.859 million manat ($8.756 million), having increased by 10.2 percent.

The total capital amounted to 70.868 million manat ($41.762 million), having increased by 4.8 percent.
