By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

Georgia successfully implements a financial program supported by the International Monetary Fund (IMF), said Director of the Fiscal Affairs Department of the IMF Vitor Gaspar, Trend reports referring to the Georgian Ministry of Finance.

He made the remarks at a meeting with Georgian Finance Minister Ivane Machavariani held within the IMF and the World Bank Group's annual meetings in New York.

The parties discussed issues related to tax administration, public investment, tax risk management and technical assistance programs to be launched in Georgia.

As Gaspar noted, Georgia is consistently implementing the measures provided for by the medium-term tax policy strategy.

“Georgia is making quite a good progress in the program supported by the IMF. In the future, we will work even more actively on risk management of public finances, which also includes improving the accounting and reporting process. At the same time, the reform of the tax administration also remains our top priority, ” said Gaspar.

IMF will continue to support financial reforms in Georgia, he added.
