Volume of money transfers from abroad to Georgia increases

The volume of money transfers from abroad to Georgia made up $153.2 million (454.3 million lari) in October 2019, Trend reports via National Bank of Georgia (NBG).

This is 11.5 percent ($15.8 million) more than the amount in October 2018.

Some 93.9 percent of the total money transfers from abroad came from nearly 20 countries, with the volume of transfers from these countries each exceeding $1 million in October.

In October 2019, Georgia received money transfers from the EU countries in the amount of $57.8 million (38 percent), including from Italy in the amount of $21 million (13.7 percent), Greece - $15.9 million (10.6 percent), Germany - $4.5 million, Spain - $3.9 million, Poland - $2.9 million, France - $2.3 million, the UK - $1.5 million, Cyprus - $1.4 million.

As for the rest of the countries, $37.8 million (24.7 percent) was sent from Russia, the US - $15.2 million (9.9 percent), Israel - $13.5 million, Turkey - $8 million, Ukraine - $4.3 million, Kazakhstan - $3.2 million, Kyrgyzstan - $3.2 million, Azerbaijan - $2.1 million, Canada - $1.2 million.

In October 2019, $22.5 million (66.6 million lari) was transferred from Georgia, which is 5.9 percent more as compared to $21.2 million in October 2018.
