External merchandise trade increases in Georgia

BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 19

The external merchandise trade (excluding non-declared trade) of Georgia amounted to $10.3 billion from January through October 2019, 0.5 percent higher year-on-year, Trend reports with reference to Georgian National Statistics Office (Geostat).

The exports equaled $3 billion (growth by 10.4), while the imports stood at $7.3 billion (decrease of 3.1 percent).

The negative trade balance was $4.2 billion from January through October 2019 and its share in external trade turnover constituted 41.4 percent.

The exports excluding re-exports amounted to $1.8 billion, 1.9 percent higher year-on-year.

From January through October 2019, the share of the top ten trading partners by imports in the total imports of Georgia amounted to 65.6 percent.

The top three partners in imports were Turkey ($1.3 billion), Russia ($774.2 million) and China ($721.2 million).

From January through October 2019, the share of the top ten trading partners in the total external trade turnover of Georgia amounted to 66.6 percent.

The top trading partners were Turkey ($1.4 billion), Russia ($1.1 billion) and China ($871.8 million).
