Volume of transactions in state bonds exceeds $7B at Baku Stock Exchange

The total volume of transactions in state bonds on the Baku Stock Exchange (BSE) amounted to 12.1 billion manat ($7.1 billion) and the number of deals reached 1,834 from January through October 2019, Trend reports on Nov. 19 referring to the BSE’s data.

At the same time, the volume of transactions in state securities amounted to 10.8 billion manat ($6.3 billion) for the same period of 2018. As a result, the total volume of transactions increased by 7.2 percent from January through October.

Among the transactions, 1,343 transactions (73 percent of the total volume) worth 9.5 billion manat ($5.6 billion) were carried out in the primary market, which is 8.5 percent less than from January through October 2018. Some 74 percent of transactions (1,030) in short-term notes of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) worth 8.9 billion manat ($5.2 billion) which is a decrease of 11.7 percent were carried out.

Some 491 transactions worth 735.5 million manat ($433.5 million) accounted for the secondary market of state securities. The specific weight reached six percent of the total amount and 26 percent of the total number of transactions in state securities.

REPO transactions in state securities, including the CBA's notes, reached 961.6 million manat ($566.8 million) which is an increase of 83.6 percent. In total, the BSE conducted 433 REPO transactions from January through October 2019, which is by 183 transactions more than from January through October 2018.
