Taxes paid by 3 percent of tax payers in Iran cover about 85 percent of the country's tax revenues, said the head of Iranian Parliament's Economic Commission Elias Hazrati, Trend reports via IRNA.
Hazrati went on to say that tax revenues in the country should be increased.
"The tax revenues have grown by 50 percent in the first seven months of the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2019) he said, in reference to the taxes from export revenues.
"The strategy to give more priority to domestic production has brought good progress, but it needs to be expanded," he said during the national conference on development of non-oil sector in Tabriz city.
The conference was attended by representatives of Turkey, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Azerbaijan and Iraq.
