Uzbekistan’s commercial banks raise dollar rate

Uzbekistan’s commercial banks raised the rate of buying and selling foreign currency, Trend reports citing Uzbek media.

In particular, at Asakabank, the purchase price of the dollar is 9,480 soums, the sale is 9,530. At Aloqabank exchange points, the purchase price of the dollar is 9,490 soums and the sale is 9,530.

At Hamkorbank, the purchase price of the dollar is 9,470 soums, the sale is 9,530. On the official website of Kapitalbank it is indicated that the purchase price of the dollar is 9,510 soums, the sale is 9,530.

In addition, at the People’s Bank, the purchase price of the dollar is 9,480 soums, the sale is 9,530.

On November 18, Uzbekistan's Central Bank established new foreign exchange rates. Then the dollar exceeded the mark of 9,500 soums. In general, the US dollar went up by 10.19 soums and amounted to 9,500.96 soums.

An increase in exchange rate volatility was observed in August at the auctions of Uzbekistan’s interbank currency market. Since the beginning of the year, the dollar against the sum increased by 12.5 percent - from slightly over 8,336 soums on Jan. 1 to 9,384 soums on Aug. 21. Most of the growth occurred in August, when the dollar rose by 679 soums.

In this regard, the Central Bank of Uzbekistan has stopped to set prices for the sale and purchase of foreign currency.

Prices for the purchase and sale of currency will now be formed on the market independently.

Moreover, from Aug. 20, commercial banks began selling foreign currency in cash through exchange offices.
