Baku Stock Exchange announces number of transactions

The total volume of transactions in Baku Stock Exchange (BSE) amounted to 14.03 billion manat ($8.2 million) in 2019, and the number of transactions was 5,460, Trend reports referring to BSE.

The volume of operations amounted to 14.8 billion manat ($8.7 billion) in 2018. Thus, the reduction over the year amounted to 5.8 percent.

In 2019, 1,640 deals worth 11 billion manat ($6.4 billion) were concluded on the primary market and 3,202 deals worth 1.8 billion manat (over $1 billion) on the secondary market.

The total volume of transactions in the government securities market was 2,117 transactions amounting to 11.7 billion manat ($6.8 billion).

Among operations on government securities, 1,581 deal (72.6 percent of the total volume) in the amount of 10.8 billion manat ($6.3 billion) were made in the primary market, which is 16.8 percent less than in 2018. About 77 percent of these transactions (1,213) were concluded on notes of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) with the total amount of 10.2 billion manat ($6 million) (decrease by 16.3 percent).

Some 596 operations worth 904.8 million manat ($532.2 million) were made in the secondary market of government securities. Their specific share was 7.7 percent of the total amount and 23 percent of the total number of transactions.

Repo transactions on government securities amounted to 1.1 billion manat ($647,058), having increased by 90.5 percent. In total, over 600 repo transactions on government securities were carried out at the BSE in 2019. This is almost twice as much as in the previous year.
