Total assets of Azerbaijan’s Kapital Bank increase

Azerbaijan’s Kapital Bank OJSC increased its total assets by 15.9 percent in the first quarter of 2020 compared to the same period of 2019, Trend reports citing the bank’s balance sheet.

According to the balance sheet, total assets of the bank increased by 828.3 million manat ($487.2 million) up to 4.4 billion manat ($2.5 billion). In the structure of assets, the largest share (46.3 percent) is accounted for the loan portfolio in the amount of 2 billion manat ($1.4 billion), indicating an increase of 32.9 percent. Two-thirds of Kapital Bank's loan portfolio accounted for consumer loans in the amount of 1.3 billion manat ($0.7 million), the increase of 28.3 percent.

About 30 percent accounted for business loans in the amount of 636 million manat ($374.1 million), the increase of 44.6 percent. Another 2.8 percent accounted for mortgage loans in the amount of 56.9 million manat ($33.4 million), showing the increase of 26.7 percent. The deduction of target reserves from the portfolio for ensuring possible losses increased by 43.1 percent, amounting to 306.7 million manat ($180.7 million).

A little more than 22 percent of total assets accounted for cash and cash equivalents. Their volume increased by 66.4 percent, up to 982.9 billion manat ($578.1 billion).

The volume of deposits in other banks and financial institutions increased by 44 percent, amounting to 982 million manat ($577.6 million). During the reporting period, the bank issued loans to other banks and financial institutions in the amount of 8.5 million manat ($5 million), which is almost 14 times more compared to the same period of 2019. At the same time, investment in securities decreased twice to 404.4 million manat ($237.8 million).

Unused real estate in the structure of long-term assets increased by 18.4 percent and exceeded 55.7 million manat ($32.7 million). Intangible assets increased by 19.6 percent, amounting to 24 million manat ($14.1 million). Deferred taxes increased by 57.4 percent and amounted to 4.2 million manat ($2.4 million). Other assets amounted to 213.1 million manat ($125.3 million).
