CBI head: Situation in Iran today safer than in many other countries, despite pressure

TEHRAN, Iran, May 9

Iran's economy is going through a difficult period, but it can be managed, Iranian Central Bank's governor Abdolnasser Hemmati said on Instagram, Trend reports.

“The efforts of the Central Bank, government grants, along with the efforts of banks to improve their balance sheets, have put the country's monetary and currency conditions in a better position, compared to the past two years,” Hemmati said.

"The stock market conditions have provided a good opportunity to improve the budget deficit through the supply of stocks of state-owned enterprises,” he said.

He admitted some inefficiencies in the country's management, but said the success of the country dealing with maximum pressure should not be underestimated.

Speaking of externals plans to create chaos in Iran's domestic market, including turmoil in Iran's banking system and shortage of basic goods, Hemmati said all this has failed, and situation in Iran today is much safer than in many other countries.
