India lifts export ban on some products to Uzbekistan during COVID-19

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 12

By Ilkin Seyfaddini – Trend:

India has lifted restrictions on exports of hydroxychloroquine and paracetamol to Uzbekistan as part of its fight against coronavirus, Trend reports citing the Indian Embassy in Uzbekistan.

"On May 11, thanks to Indian Ambassador to Uzbekistan Santosh Jh, a batch of medicines was handed over to officials of the Uzbek Ministry of Health. These shipments include hydroxychloroquine tablets, which had previously been requested by the Uzbek government. India has also allowed large quantities of hydroxychloroquine tablets to be exported on a commercial basis to Uzbekistan, despite current controls over such exports from India," the message said.

In addition, India has offered three online capacity-building courses for medical professionals from Uzbekistan under the e-ITEC program over the past two months.

"Countries are also stepping up cooperation in other areas. In addition to a credit line of up to $1 billion, under which a number of infrastructure and communication projects are being considered, India has offered Uzbekistan to implement a large number of projects on a grant basis with quick impact, the amount of which may amount to $30 million," the report says.
