Bahar Azadi gold coin price rises in Iran

A new edition of Bahar Azadi gold coin, which has been minted since 1991, was sold for 73.8 million rials (about $1,750) in Iran today, on May 17, Trend reports citing ISNA.

The price of gold coins is falling in the Iranian gold market; however, the price of this coin in the Iranian market was 73.3 million rials (about $1,740) on May 16.

Meanwhile, the previous edition of one Bahar Azadi gold coin was sold for 71.5 million rials (about $1,700) on May 17.

There is also ¼, ½ and other versions of the Bahar Azadi new gold coin. Half gold coin is worth 38.2 million rials (about $909), while a quarter of the gold coin is sold for 20.5 million rials (about $500).

After the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran in 1979, the Central Bank of Iran issued a gold coin called "Bahar Azadi" and put it up for wholesale and retail sale.

The old gold coins were minted from 1979 to 1991; afterwards, the gold coins began to be produced in a new form.
