Iran discloses monthly tax revenues

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 9

By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:

Iran's tax revenues exceed 120 trillion rials (about $2.85 billion) a month, said Omid Ali Parsa, the director of Iranian National Tax Administration, Trend reports citing the administration.

The director noted that government spending on the country, salaries, pensions, and etc., account for 280 trillion rials (about $6.66 billion) per month.

According to Parsa, therefore, it is necessary for all government agencies to cooperate with Iranian National Tax Administration on tax revenues.

He added that 8 percent of the population's income is spent on the country's expenses in Iran. However, this figure is about 30 percent in the world.

“Given Iran's declining oil revenues, the government has no choice but to collect tax revenues, and citizens must pay taxes based on their income, property and expenses," he said.

Parsa stressed that the main reason for tax evasion in Iran is the lack of a data center. In this regard, all Iranian sales centers should join the system of the Iranian National Tax Administration in the next two years.

"Iranian National Tax Administration wants to focus on increasing the amount of taxpayers in the country. This will result in increased funds for the development of Iran's provinces," he said.
