Azerbaijan's Nakhchivan sees growth in agricultural production

The value of agricultural production in Azerbaijan’s Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (AR) in the first 7 months of 2020 exceeded 256.2 million manat ($150.7 million), which is 1.4 percent more than in the same period of 2019, Trend reports referring to the Nakhchivan AR’s State Statistical Committee.

During the reporting period, the reconstruction of reclamation and irrigation systems, as well as reclamation measures were carried out on 73 hectares of lands in the Sadarak district.

The construction of a pumping station at the Araz reservoir, a line of pressure pipes, a pumping station in the village of Kulus in Shahbuz district, closed irrigation networks in the villages of Turkesh, Salasuz and Maralik in Shahbuz district and the village of Boyukduz in Babak district continues.

By the order of Azerbaijan’s president dated April 23, 2020 "On additional measures to improve the provision of irrigation water in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and meet the needs of the population in drinking water", the Cabinet of Ministers of the Nakhchivan AR was allocated funds in the amount of 1 million manat ($588,200).

From January through July 2020, measures were taken to protect existing green spaces of the forest fund and establish new ones, reforestation work was carried out on an area of ​​282 hectares, and about 206,000 trees were planted.
