By Jeila Aliyeva - Trend:

Turkmenistan has imported medical goods from Russia for more than $7.8 million since the beginning of July 2020, Trend reports, citing Arzuw NEWS information portal.

The largest volume of medicines from Russia to Turkmenistan was supplied by Russia’s Tatarstan companies.

As reported, products worth more than $571,000 were received from Moscow pharmaceutical company Sotex, while Corporation Roskhimzashchita JSC of Russia's Tambov Oblast (region) exported medicines worth $30,000 to Turkmenistan.

Earlier, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia told Trend that the growth of trade turnover between Turkmenistan and Russia was 68.8 percent in 2019 ($694.8 million) compared to 2018, and it increased by 3.8 times (to $518 million) from January through April 2020.

The main Russian export items to Turkmenistan include machinery, equipment and vehicles, chemical products, food and agricultural raw materials, metals and products made from them, the ministry said.

"Imports are dominated by textiles, chemical industry products, and food," added Russian MFA.

Numerous Russian companies operate in the country, which contributes to the growth of trade turnover.
