An automobile plant construction, with participation of Uzbek company, is underway in Azerbaijan’s Hajigabul city, at which it’s planned to produce cars jointly with General Motors, Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Azerbaijan Bakhrom Ashrafkhanov said, Trend reports referring to the confederation.
Ashrafkhanov made the statement at a meeting with the confederation’s President Mammad Musayev.
The sides discussed directions of development of economic cooperation between the two countries.
According to the ambassador, in the Alat free economic zone, Uzbek and Azerbaijani entrepreneurs can create joint ventures in the field of textile, food and pharmaceutical production. It was also emphasized at the meeting that Uzbekistan shows high interest in the varieties of nuts and pomegranates grown in Azerbaijan.
The ambassador also noted that the confederation’s president will make a speech as an honored guest at the meeting of the chambers of entrepreneurship of the CIS countries in Uzbekistan to be held on September 4.
At the end of the meeting, it was decided to continue cooperation between the Azerbaijani Entrepreneurs Confederation and the Embassy of Uzbekistan to expand economic, humanitarian and cultural ties between the two countries.
The ambassador expressed hope that Baku will turn into a hub for transit cargoes heading to Uzbekistan.
