The revenues of the state budget of Azerbaijan from customs duties amounted to 79.1 million manats ($46.5 million) in August 2020, decreasing by 22 percent compared to August 2019, Trend reports citing the State Customs Committee (SCC) of Azerbaijan.
In the reporting month, the revenues to the state budget of Azerbaijan through the State Customs Committee made up 285.6 million manats ($168 million), having dropped by 38 percent over the year.
According to the SCC, the revenues from the value-added tax (VAT) slumped by 41 percent and stood at 192.1 million manats ($113 million).
At the same time, the revenues from excise taxes almost halved and equaled 11.4 million manats ($6.7 million). The receipts from road tax plunged by 40 percent, making up 2.5 million manats ($1.4 million).
The duties of the State Customs Committee (SCC) of Azerbaijan include protecting the sovereignty, economic and national security of Azerbaijan, as well as improving the social welfare of the people. The committee is also responsible for promoting international trade, ensuring the collection of customs payments and transferring them to the state budget, as well as for preventing fraud in the customs sphere, and combating international terrorism.
