The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) advised Turkmenistan to explore energy and transport sectors during a meeting between representatives of Turkmenistan and EBRD, the representative of EBRD Anton Usov told Trend.
“We talked about funding for Turkmen small and mid-size enterprises through Turkmen financial intermediaries. We also discussed funding for municipal projects in the country,” he said.
Usov noted, that the sides agreed that identifying projects will be their next stage.
The talks were held in early October of this year. During the meeting it was confirmed that the EBRD is ready to continue providing assistance to the Turkmen side in accordance with the EBRD’s Turkmenistan Country Strategy 2019-2024.
According to the Turkmen MFA, during the meeting, the parties noted the need to adapt joint activities to the current situation, including the global COVID-19 situation, etc.
The sides also noted their intention to intensify cooperation in a number of areas, including projects in the field of energy, transport, development of small and medium-sized businesses and others.
