The discussions in connection with the getting back of money for Iran’s exports to South Korea are carried out between South Korean Ambassador to Iran and representative of the South Korean trade sector, the Chairman of Iran and South Korea’s Joint Chamber of Commerce, Hossein Tanhaee told ILNA, Trend reports.
According to Tanhaee, the discussions on the frozen assets of Iran in South Korea have not reached a conclusion.
“At present, the South Korean side is trying to transfer the funds to Iran,” the chairman added.
The chairman emphasized that Iran's frozen funds in South Korea amount to about $8.5 billion.
The US imposed new sanctions on Iran in November 2018. Over the past period, the sanctions affected Iranian oil exports, more than 700 banks, companies, and individuals. The sanctions have cut off Iran's banking ties with many countries.
