Local products worth $91.3 million have been exported through the trading systems of the Uzbek Republican Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange (UZEX) since the beginning of 2020, Trend reports referring to the press service of UZEX.
According to UZEX, large export deals were concluded for the sale of polyethylene (52 percent), oil products (13 percent), and cotton fiber (12 percent). The rest of the sales were covered by polypropylene, liquefied gas, and other products.
The largest volume of exports through the exchange mechanism fell on Kazakhstan - 20 percent, Tajikistan - 15 percent, Russia - 13 percent, and Turkey - 12 percent.
At the same time, import contracts have also been concluded using exchange mechanisms in order to ensure food security in Uzbekistan and maintain price stability in the domestic market.
In particular, foodstuffs, mineral fertilizers, and petroleum products worth $30.6 million were imported with the assistance of foreign trading platforms of the exchange over the past period.
In order to increase and accelerate the import of demanded food products, the registration of foreign companies on the exchange has been simplified - they are also exempt from depositing pledges and paying commission fees.
This year, the exchange also opened new trading floors in Russia (3), Ukraine (1), Kazakhstan (2), and Tajikistan (1), 41 foreign companies are also accredited in the exchange system. As a result, the total number of foreign trading platforms of the exchange increased to 14.
