The number of payment cards increased by 26.8 percent as of late November 2020, compared to the same period of 2019, reaching 9.14 million units, Trend reports citing a statistical report of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).
“Most of the cards (slightly over 8 million units) are debit cards, especially, more than 3.4 million cards are social, 2.5 million are salary cards, and 2.15 million are other card products. The number of debit cards in annual circulation grew by 25 percent,” said the report.
The number of credit cards as of late November this year amounted to 1.07 million units, the bulletin said.
As of the reporting period, 2,688 ATMs operated in the country, of which 1,415 are in Baku, and 1,273 in other cities and districts of the country. The number of ATMs in Azerbaijan rose by 2.3 percent year on year.
The number of POS terminals in the country amounted to 56,956, of which 37,439 were installed in Baku, and 19,517 - in other cities and regions of the country. Since the beginning of 2020, their number in Azerbaijan has decreased by 11,848 units or 17.2 percent.
