Turkmenistan is working on standardization, certification, metrology, labor protection and underground resources, and industrial safety, said head of Major State Service of Turkmenistan’s Turkmenstandartlary at a working meeting held by the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Trend reports with reference to Turkmenistan’s State News Agency.

During the reporting period, 75,000 units of certificates of conformity were issued for products imported from abroad, domestic production, services, labor and industrial safety.

Some 585,600 measuring instruments were tested, and 1,415 standards and specifications were upgraded.

As earlier the representative of Organization for Standardization (ISO) told Trend, Turkmenstandartlary Major State Service has the status of a correspondent member with ISO which means that it adheres to the development of ISO standards and strategy by attending ISO technical and policy meetings as observer.

Major State Inspection of Turkmenistan (MSIT) was established on January, 7, 1993, in order to control the quality of manufactured products.

"The organization was renamed the Major State Inspection Turkmenistandartlary on October, 5 1999. Since 8 October 2000, it has been the Major State Service "Turkmenstandartlary",” said ISO.
