Azerbaijan records growth in Jan.2021 lending to agricultural sector

The volume of lending to agriculture, forestry, and fishing in Azerbaijan amounted to 573 million manat ($337 million) in January 2021, Trend reports citing data from the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).

Lending to this sector increased by 32.7 million manat ($19.2 million) or 6.1 percent compared to January 2020.

The long-term loans accounted for 500.4 million manat ($294.3 million) or 87.3 percent of the total lending volume to the sector. The loans worth 381.2 million manat ($224.2 million) were issued in national currency, 119.2 million manat ($70.1 million) - in foreign currency.

The short-term loans in the sector of agriculture, forestry, and fishery amounted to 37.6 million manat ($22.1 million) or 6.6 percent of the total lending volume to the sector. Some 28.4 million manat ($16.7 million) of that volume were issued in national currency, and $9.2 million manat ($5.4 million) - in foreign currency.

The loans were mainly issued to the private institutions in the national currency, which amounted to 71.5 percent (409.6 million manat that’s $240.9 million) of the total lending volume to the sector. The transactions in foreign currency made up 128.4 million manat that’s $75.5 million (22.4 percent).

The share of lending to the agricultural sector in lending to the real sector amounted to 3.9 percent and this indicator increased by 0.4 percentage points compared to January last year.

In general, the volume of lending to the real sector in January 2021 amounted to over 14.5 billion manat ($8.5 billion).
