Number of client accounts in Azerbaijani banks amounted to more than 21.2 million by early February 2021, which shows an increase of eight percent compared to the same period of 2020, Trend reports on March 18 with reference to the statistics report of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).
A big part (86.7 percent) in the structure of client accounts accounted for current accounts in the volume of 18.4 million, which is by 11.7 percent more than by early February 2020. Almost the whole share belongs to individuals (18.11 million) in the structure of current accounts.
Credit accounts, accounting for 12.3 percent in the structure of client accounts, reached 2.6 million while the share of deposit accounts accounted for 1.04 percent or over 220,500.
The number of bank clients by early February 2021, having increased by 11 percent, amounted to 9.13 million. Some 9.02 million of them are individuals.
Some 26 banks are currently operating in Azerbaijan, two of which are state-owned banks and 24 are private banks.
